Gingham Garden Suite

The Gingham Garden Suite is one of my favorites in the Stampin’ Up! catalog. I love the colors, the combination of flowers and checks and especially the Washi Tape.  I wasn’t excited about the tape until I actually saw and used it the first time and now have purchased every set. It’s so easy to use because it just tears. A little bit of tape adds a lot of  extra pop to a card. The stamped circle around the greeting punches out with the large circle punch and the greeting inside was inked using markers. Using the clear mount stamp makes getting it centered inside the circle so easily and perfectly. I lined an envelope using the new Envelope Liner Framelet that is in the Holiday Catalog. There are three sizes. One for the standard medium envelope, one for the note card envelope. and the third is for the square mini envelope. The standard size used here uses a 6″ x 6″ piece of Designer Series Paper. I scored it right were the fold of the envelope is and attached it with the Anywhere Glue Stick.

I have a computer program that sends me an email to remind me of people’s birthdays. Last week I got a reminder that today, Aug. 5th, is my dad’s birthday. Of course, I didn’t need a reminder but it made me sad. He would have been 93 today. I think of him every day and miss him. I wish he was here. He loved birthdays. He loved presents. Giving them and getting them. Happy Birthday Dad. xoxo

Stampin’ Up! has just come out with two new Thinlit dies that we were able to see at convention. I am so excited about these because they cut and score a card complete with moving parts in just one step. And as an extra bonus they each come with additional pieces that have versatile designs, so you can use them on other projects, not just for flip cards.

Holiday Catalog Live

The new Holiday catalog is live today which means we can now order from it. There are so many wonderful new stamp sets and papers, and embellishments for all of the upcoming holidays.  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Which is your favorite holiday? If you have not received a copy and would like one let me know.  There is a link on the right sidebar of my blog to the catalog just below the annual catalog and you can also download it here:

FYI: Did you know that the links to the catalogs on the right sidebar also have a link to the supply lists? Remember when there was a list in the back of the catalog indicating the supplies used to make the samples? Well, they don’t do that anymore but that information can be found if you click on the supply list.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These two cards were made by my friend and upline, Catherine Harwood. You can see more of her awesome stamping on her blog here. The Halloween card suffered the ride home in my suitcase a bit but I wanted to show it to you anyway as it is a great use of the new chevron punch that is available beginning today in the Holiday catalog. I like how she also used the chevron embossing folder. I just ordered this punch so am anxious to use it.
This card showcases the Coordinations cardstock. It comes in many different colors and after you emboss it you sand off the top of the paper which uncovers a different color in the core of the paper. This embossing folder is a great choice to show the sanding effect.
I have two very tall palm trees in my front yard. They’ve been like a lighthouse for finding where I live. I have always told people to look for the two tall palms. I’m the only one on the street with two. When I got home from convention I noticed they were looking a little wilted.  I called the tree service I use and told him my concerns that the trees were looking like something might be wrong with them. He asked if they looked like some big birds or something had flattened the fronds down since they all seemed to be hanging down. I told him it looked like an elephant had been sitting on the top! So he came by yesterday and the trees are dying and cannot be saved. They will both have to come down. He said he didn’t see any signs of disease and that it was possible that lightening might have gotten them. They are right next to each other. I’m sad to be loosing them but have already decided to plant a pretty crepe myrtle tree.
Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by,
Kick Up Your Heels & More Swaps
I received this card at convention as one of my swaps from demonstrator Teresa Clark-Massey and really liked the idea of it and knew I wanted to use it in one of my stamp classes. Her red plaid paper is retired and, unfortunately, the star punches and hemp are also retired. Hopefully, you have those punches already. If not, there are many templates available for cutting stars. Teresa’s card is on the left and mine is on the right. I love red cowboy boots! I had wanted some for such a long time and a few years ago got a pair of short red boots that look like cowboy boots if you have on a pair of pants or jeans and, living in Florida, I decided a low boot would be was perfect.
Here are a few more swaps I received last week:
This first card was from my downline, Sheila Thompson. She used Secret Garden Stamp Set and I love the way she water colored the flowers.
I don’t have the demonstrator’s name or information for these next two cards. The pineapple was a good use of the honeycomb embossing folder. Such a good idea. And isn’t this little lion just cute! The Blossom punch was used for the lion’s mane.
Last Day of DSP “Buy 3, Get 1 Free” Special
Just a brief reminder that July 31st is the last day of the Designer Series Paper Special – buy 3 and receive the 4th one free.
Today I took a friend to Orlando for surgery. She is doing very well and on the road to recovery. However, she had to be there by 5:30 AM so I was up at 3:30 and we left town to drive over there at 4:30. I came home late afternoon just in time to freshen up a bit and head out to a post-convention demonstrator meeting to look at each others swaps, talk about convention, etc.  It was fun but it has also made for a very long day and I am headed for some much needed sleep so check back tomorrow for a look at some of the swaps I received at convention.
Hugs,
I got this cute dress made out of a napkin as a swap at convention. I have seen these done before but have not ever done one myself. The napkin was stamped with white StazOn and then it was embossed with the polka dot embossing folder. This would be so cute for a bridal shower or a girls party.
A Little Stampin’ Fun
Today my new friends came over and learned the basics of stamping and each made a card. They were surprised at how easy it really is and had a fun time.
If you would like to learn how easy and fun stamping can be come to one of my classes. We have a great time.
It is always great seeing those who are in my downline that don’t live locally when we are at convention. Kaye gave us each one of these gifts that she stamped with Secret Garden stamp set. I’m sorry it got a little smooshed traveling across country in my luggage. Inside she had this beautiful card and notepad. The card is an example of “Scribble Stamping”. Simply use one of the markers and scribble back and forth across the cardstock and then stamp an image over it.
This afternoon I happened to notice a rainbow outside so I walked out in the rain to get a better look. It was the biggest rainbow I have ever seen and went from ground to ground in a high arc. It was truly spectacular. Feeling blessed.
Dressing Up
This card was created by my downline, Jayne Catubig. I love that she used the silver glimmer paper for the dress form and then added bits of it elsewhere on the card. You can never go wrong using red, black and white color combination. It just looks classy and her dress does too. If you look closely you will see that Jayne embossed the dress using the Mosaic embossing folder and her placement of the design is perfect.
Some time ago a good friend and I were shopping and wound up buying the same top. It was on sale and we both really liked it.  So today we were going somewhere together and we always meet at a designated place where one of us leaves her car and the other one drives. You guessed it, we showed up both wearing the same top! I couldn’t believe it when I saw her. We both just started laughing. Needless to say, we went back to her house (it was closer) and she changed.
Have a Blessed Sunday,
Little Bee
I’m back to my weekly stamp class following convention and I  have my head and camera filled with ideas plus about 150 card swaps. I received a card from a swap which was similar to this one but I needed to make several changes because I didn’t have the same stamps used on the swap. That’s a really easy way to design a card – see something you like and use it for inspiration to come up with your own card. You might change the stamp set used, change the colors or change the paper used. This is a great way to use up those small leftover scraps of Designer Series Paper.
Stamps: Papaya Collage, Postage Collection (Hostess Set), Bella Boutique Wheel
Using a Stampin’ Around Wheel:
wheel
I used a wheel for the Tangerine image below the DSP. Wheels are such fun to use.  There are a couple of ways to ink up a wheel. One is to use a Stampin’ Around ink cartridge. These come in black or uninked which you then ink using a re-inker.  An ink cartridge allows you to make a continuous stamped image of any length because the cartridge keeps the rubber inked while you are wheeling it. The second method is for those times when you don’t need to cover a great length with your stamped image. You simply roll the wheel across the ink pad. This works for most standard card size pieces of cardstock. When you wheel a piece of cardstock it is important to begin and end your run off the edge of the cardstock.  If you haven’t used a wheel give it a try. You think you will love doing wheelies!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The past two days I have heard loud birds squawking outside and when I went to investigate the telephone wires, tree, and side of my roof looked like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller “The Birds”. I think they were eating the figs from my tree. It was certainly a little spooky and I hate that they are stealing the figs. They didn’t stay around more than a few minutes but I sure did know they were here. I wouldn’t have minded so much if they were pretty birds but they were crows.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by,
