Pansy Sympathy Card

pansy

This is the last of the four cards that were made at the Just Cards Class. I saw this design when I went to a demonstrator meeting. It was made by Fran Sabad. I snapped a photo because I liked it and I especially like cards that have glitter and glitz on them. Fran's card was done in a blue color. My only change was using Wisteria Wonder. There is glitter in the center of the flowers which might be hard to see.

Stamps: Flower Shop, Blessings From Heaven, Secret Garden

Ink: Pear Pizzaz, Wisteria Wonder, Baked Brown Sugar

Paper: Wisteria Wonder, White

Misc: Mosaic Embossing Folder, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Pansy Punch, Dimensionals

I have been putting off buying a new mattress for some time. It's right up there with buying new tires or insurance. The thought of getting the wrong mattress just worried me so much and it's not so easy to find the perfect one when you are only spending a few minutes laying on them. But there were lots of ads for Labor Day sales so I bit the bullet today. Have my fingers crossed I picked out the right one.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by,

Papaya Collage

Another card from the Just Cards Class I just had. I love the new In Colors and how well they all go with Baked Brown Sugar. I rolled a mini glue dot and used it to attach the linen thread bow to the cut out butterfly.

Nothing is as frightening as a call from the police department in the middle of the night. And that's just what happened last night. Well, not quite the middle of the night but it was 12:50 AM and even though I should have been asleep I actually was still awake. A benefit of retirement. You can stay up late if you want and sleep late in the morning if you want. Although I never do sleep late. Up and going by 6:00 or 6:30. Anyway, back to the ringing phone and the police. In the few steps it took to get the phone I had mentally run down the list of my three children. Was someone hurt? In trouble? Which one? It's amazing how quickly these thoughts zip through your head while you try to remain calm. And when the caller identified herself as the local police department there wasn't a calm nerve left in my body. Then just as quickly as I had imagined all possibilities of things I was quickly relieved to hear that they were looking for my daughter's ex. He hasn't lived locally for over 5 years but when he did he was a store manger and would get called by the police whenever the store alarm would go off. And for a short time my phone number was listed as a contact for him. So all was well and I hope they get my phone number removed from whatever list they found it on.

Swallowtail

This is another of the cards from my Just Cards Class. While some of the stampers were working on it I happened to look out the window and saw the biggest monarch butterfly outside. It hung around for quite some time. I imagined it saw all of these stamped butterflies and wanted to come on in. smiley  The front panels on this card are actually done on Shimmery White cardstock so there is a little sparkle to the card which a camera just doesn't pick up. Because the butterfly is stamped with Early Espresso ink which is not permanent the background is sponged prior to stamping the butterfly.

Stamps: Swallowtail, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso

Paper: Early Espresso, Vanilla, Shimmery White

Stippled Blossom

Sunday was the first of two special card classes. The theme was cards that say "I Care". Sympathy, Get Well, Thinking of You. Everyone had a good time and went home with ten cards. Here are a few of the gals who came.  Sylvia, Faith and Donna, Kelly and Cathy, and Tara.

Class This is one of the cards they made. It was inspired by a swap I received at convention from demonstrator Melissa Beodie. I changed the colors and added the ribbon and butterfly to mine.  I'll share the other cards from this class later this week.

Reflected Image Technique

Cards that have an image that is reflected are very easy to make if you know how to do them. We made this card in class last week. Lovely As a Tree stamp set has been around for twelve years. Every year when Stampin'' Up! puts out their retiring stamp list I expect to see that it is going away and I am always thrilled to see that it has remained in the catalog. It's a very popular set and probably the most ordered set from my customers.

Trees

What makes this card work is that the trees are stamped on opposite sides of a piece of window sheet.  And what makes it attach to the card is the linen thread. See the video for complete instruction.

Stamps: Lovely As a Tree, Banner Greetings

Ink: Black StazOn, Marina Mist, White Craft

Paper: Old Olive, Marina Mist, White

Misc: Window Sheet, Linen Thread, Paper Piercing Tool, Dental Floss Threader

Masking Tape Background Technique

There are only 10 days left to take advantage of the recruiting special. Sign up by August 31st for just $99 and you can select a project kit (see below) FREE in addition to the $125 in product that you get to select. One of the advantages of signing up with me is that you also become a member of my upline Catherine Harwood's 321 Stamp group of demonstrators. We meet at her house monthly, make two projects and share ideas. She always has great projects and this card was one that we did last week. What I love about Catherine is that she can take an idea or technique and usually adjust it to make it even better. And that is just what she did with this masking tape technique. You can see Catherine's complete instructions for doing this card here.

The card below is the same card I posted yesterday however I decided to add some color to the wheat. I'm not sure which way I like better.

Wheat colored

Thankful for …..

When I got my copy of the Holiday Catalog I immediately knew that I wanted the Truly Grateful stamp set. I especially love the bunch of wheat and the greetings. How lucky I was to have won it at convention! So today I decided to use it along with the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, also from the Holiday Catalog. The colors I picked for this card came straight from the package of Designer Series Paper. I don't often use Sahara Sand cardstock and probably would not have picked it on my own. I really like using DSP in my card designs. It adds pop to the card and makes it so easy to pick a color pallette.  Did you know that the colors used in a package of DSP are listed on the back of the package? Thanks for making it so easy for us Stampin' Up!

New Photopolymer Stamp Set

photopolymer

Stampin' Up! has annouced a new photopolymer stamp set and it's all about Thanks. It seems as though I run out of thank you cards more than any other card which suggests I must have great friends and a blessed life. And I certainly do. I like the way our photopolymer stamps completely let you see where you are stamping. This set of 10 stamps is just $13.95.  Item #133454

Today was a very special day in my life many years ago. I had my first child. How can it be that he is 47 when I hardly feel much older than that myself? He was a wonderful child (well, most of the time) and I am so prould of the man he has become. Happy Birthday Jeff. I love you.

Best of Halloween

bestofhalloween

I love Halloween and these stamps in the August Best of 25 Years set are perfect for cards, decorations, scrapbooking or treats. Stampini' Up is bringing back some of their favorite stamps from the past 25 years and combining them into a new set and each new set will include one brand new stamp. These sets come in clear mount only and are $14.95. Purchase 6 or more of the "Best of" stamp sets and you will earn a free stamp set of your choice ($14.95 value).

I am happy to report that I found the name of the demonstrator who inspired my card from yesterday. It was T. Verbarends. I cleaned up my stamp room and found if burried under a stack of cardstock. Does your stamp area get so cluttered that you can't find things too?

Have a great weekend,
