Speaking of Woo Hoo, here is a card that we did this month in classes and workshops and inspired by a card done by Stasia Sloma with some changes. The banners stamps and coordinating punch are some of the FREE items some Sale-a-Bration. The Owl Builder Punch is one of my favorites and that little owl can be used to create so many things other than an owl.

Yesterday my daughter, Lynn Ann, and I went to the movies to see American Hustle. I love watching the awards shows and I am trying to see some of the movies that have Acadamy Award nominations before that airs. I really liked this movie although it started out a bit slow and was a little confusing. The acting performances are all superb and I suspect there will be some Oscar wins for this movie. After we left the theater we discovered a small petting zoo in the mall parking lot so we hopped on over there. There are just a few animals and they sell ice cream cones (no ice cream, just the cone) filled with food for the llamas and goats. It was fun feeding them but more fun watching my daughter feed them. She did say she was born to live on a farm. She has the biggest heart for animals.

And there was this camel that you could ride for $5.00 but we opted to just stick to the goats and llamas.

Thanks for stopping by and stay warm. This weather is crazy even here in Florida.

This card was inspired by one that I received when I was in Houston at Leadership. I swapped one of my cards with demonstrator Brenda Witt. I made a few changes with adding the Petite Petal flowers and changed up the butterfly a bit. But the papers, colors, and layout were her design so thanks Brenda.

Stamps: Petite Petals, Papillion, Wetlands

Ink: Island Indigo

Paper: Island Indigo, White, Pool Party

Misc: Pretty Prints Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Gumball Green Ribbon, Small and Large Butterfly Punch, Petite Petals Punch

I took some photos last week of a couple of my stamping groups. They didn't all turn out great so I am only posting a few of them (even with the green tint). These classes are at a gated RV/Golf community and I have been going there for about 8 years and it's always a fun night.

I forgot to post this picture from Leadership taken with CEO and Co Founder of Stampin' Up, Shelli Gardner and her husband Sterling. Also in the picture are my friends (and my roommates) Barbara Lash from Massachusetts, and Catherine Harwood from Merritt Island.

with Shelli

It was hard to believe that it had only been four months since Shelli was in a serious horse riding accident which left her with multiple injuries (fractured wrist in three places,  pelvis in four places, a fracture in her sacrum and her left clavicle).  You can see photos and read about her journey through surgery, PT, and on to recovery here. This link will take you to the beginning of the accident which was blogged by her husband. Then just scroll through the later blog posts to see more photos and updates. She is one strong, determined cookie!

Andrew Carlton, a friend and the father of my grand niece and nephew,  lives in Australia. He is undertaking an amazing charity bike ride through Thailand to raise money for the children affected by the tsunami. The ride is 500 km which is about 310 miles to those of us in the USA. He needs to raise $5000 to qualify for the ride and is not there yet and time is short. He has about three weeks left to reach this goal. He has a truly moving video (click on his picture) about why he is doing this. You can easily see his passion. You can also see my adorable grand niece and nephew at the end of it. 🙂

andrew

Donations towards this ride can be made on the video link and of course are tax deductible. And I am also offering an alternate way to donate. I have a large assortment of my handmade cards and will sell 10 of them with envelopes for $15.  That's just $1.50 per card. I will even mail them to anyone who does not live locally. And any money from this will go directly towards his ride.

Hugs,

Pretty Little Valentines

Red:Blk valentine

We have been working on Valentine's Day cards in classes the past week. I love red, black, and vanilla together so that was the first step in designing this card. From there I looked for hearts and found plenty including stamps, punches, and embossing folders to create this card.

Stamps: Language of Love

Ink: Real Red

Paper: Real Red, Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP

Misc: Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Adorning Accents Edglets, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Small & Large Heart Punches

The card below was inspired by one I saw done by demonstrator Vickie Burdick. I made a few changes and created this card:

Heart flowers 2heart flowers

This card easily adapts from a Valentine's Day card to an Anniversary card or even a Friendship card just by changing the sentiment. And you can see how different color bows make the card look a little different. My class stampers had a choice and about 60% of them picked the Rose Red ribbon over the Artichoke ribbon. Unfortunately, both of these ribbon colors have been retired. But you can make this card using a different color combination and ribbon color.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Rose Red

Paper: Rose Red, Pink Pirouette, White, Always Artichoke

Misc: Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Hearts Framelets, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Tasteful Trim Die, Seam Binding, Polka Dot Embossing Folder

CD Calendar: July – Sept

Here are the next three months of this years CD Calendar:

augThe blue coral is embossed with Pool Party embossing powder and then the coral is stamped over it with Pear Pizzazz ink. The fish was stamped on scrap white card stock and cut out.

Several months ago I bought a new mattress set.  I was having some back issues and since my set was quite old I decided it was time to replace it. I did a lot of research before selecting a set and since I like a high bed I decided to go with one that was higher. My back continued to ache when I woke up but because I was having some back issues I assumed it was my back and not the mattress. However when I was in Houston for Leadership and had such good sleep on the hotel mattress I realized my new mattress was causing at least some of the problems. Since the one I bought is extra firm I decided to add a foam topper to it which I did today. My bed is now so high that I just might need the step ladder to climb on. And if I should ever fall out I will most definitely hurt myself!

Go to Stampin’ Up! Convention for FREE!

convention

One of my favorite things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is going to the annual convention in July.  The excitement, creativity, time spent with friends from across the country, and so much more is inspiring and motivating and just so much fun! I have only missed one in the 10 years I have been a demonstrator.  Last week Stampin' Up! made a huge announcement.

convention sign up

My Paper Pumpkin – Big Changes Coming

paperpumpkinThere are BIG CHANGES coming to My Paper Pumpkin kits! When Stampin’ Up! introduced My Paper Pumpkin last year many people joined and several dropped, unhappy with the items in the kits.  I had never joined as the kit ideas just didn't quite appeal to my stamping style. Stampin’ Up! has listened and, beginning with the February kit, has stepped up the quality of items in the kits.  We were able to see the February and March kits (but not allowed to take pictures) – and I have to say that they are really great.  So great that I signed up right on the spot and can hardly wait to get mine.  If these are any indication of what’s to come with My Paper Pumpkin, you’ll want to sign up now (www.mypaperpumpkin.com, and indicate me as your demonstrator).  If you have never signed up before you will receive the starter kit as your first kit. If you signed up and dropped you will NOT get the starter kit again but will get the next monthly kit. Each month a new kit will be shipped to you. The subscription is $19.95 per month (no shipping or tax).

Sign up for a Paper Pumpkin membership by February 10, and you’ll get a FREE set of 2012-2014 In Color Stampin’ Write Markers!

Coming Soon: Alcohol markers in 12 Stampin' Up! colors

Blendabilities

blendabilities

I had the opportunity to try out the new alcohol markers when I was in Houston. They are called Blendabilities and come in sets of three markers ranging in color from light to dark. The set will sell for $11.95. There is also a set of 6 skin tone markers ranging from ivory to mocha, a color lifter marker, and a black ink pad that works with them. Stampin' Up! tried the markers with all kinds of papers and found that our very own white cardstock is the best paper of all. These markers will be available sometime soon so be watching for that announcement. I am very excited about these new markers.

New Personalized Stamps

Personalized stampAnother sneak peek last week were the new personalized stamps – with a monogram and customize wording (anything you want), to be available at the end of January.  These will be photopolymer. And speaking of photopolymer stamps, they will begin to ship in the DVD cases. Woo hoo.

Thanks for stopping by,

Last Day of Leadership

Today was the last day of Leadership. The three days go by so quickly and are so filled with things going on day and night. Last night we had make and takes and stamping demonstrations. There is a nice park called Discovery Green which is between our hotel and the convention center which we walked through last night. The trees have these huge hanging illuminated globes with different images.

Globes

And here is a photo of Catherine and I when we walked by during the day.

Cat & I with balloons

Leadership is a bit like Convention which is in Salt Lake City in July however on a smaller scale in terms of numbers of attendees. There were about 1000 demonstrators here. We got several free stamp sets which I am excited about and a card kit from the Occasions catalog. Gotta love FREE. It's always fun reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones.

This is a photo that I was having taken with Mary Fish of Stampin' Pretty. We didn't realize it until after that Brian Pilling, the Demonstrator Training Manager for Stampin' Up!, was photo bombing us.

Mary Fish

Tonight we went to dinner at a Tex Mex restaurant with friends of Catherine who use to live and work in Houston. We then were treated to a driving tour of Houston by one of her friends. I didn't realize how big it is (4th largest city in the country).

I'm coming back home with so much new information, swaps, ideas, etc.
