Happy Mother’s Day

This is the card I sent to the special mother's in my life: my mother, my daughter, and my daughter-in-law.

m day

The pansies are made using the pansy punch. The petals are cut apart, the daffodil petals sponged with some calypso coral ink and then attached to a punched 3/4" circle of cardstock using mini glue dots. The leaves are also sponged with some garden green ink. I used a marker to bend the petals around giving them a bit of a curve. The Mother's Day sentiment is a retired stamp.

I hope your Mother's Day is a good one. Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin’ Up’s Wonderful World of Color

One of the things I love the most about Stampin' Up is their beautiful colors. And every year I am amazed when they come up with 5 new fabulous colors. Can you spot the new In Colors nestled into the rest of them? This gives a nice comparison.

What are your favorites? Mine are Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon. Just a few more weeks and they will be available to order. Let me know if you want a catalog.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a Blessed Sunday and Happy Mother's Day.

Blendabilities Markers Coming Soon

When I went to Houston Stampin' Up Leadership in January I got a first look at the Blendabilities alcohol markers. As a demonstrator I was able to preorder them and I am so excited that they are being delivered today. You will be able to order them when the new catalog comes out June 1st. They come in color groups of 3 markers with a light, medium and darker shade making it so easy to color and shade. Because they are alcohol based there is a new black ink called Memento that needs to be used with them. And the most amazing color lifter marker which truly does remove the color if you make a mistake. These are just some of the colors that are going to be available:

cherry cob

Coastal cab

daffodil

old olive

pumpkin

razzleberry

Other colors are Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, and Wisteria Wonder.

The beautiful flower stamp is a single stamp called Blended Bloom from the new catalog and is a perfect image for using the Blendabilities markers.

I will have the new catalogs available soon. If you are one of my customers who has gone north for the summer be sure to let me know your address so I can send you one.

Graduation Smartphone Card

At our last demonstrator meeting we made a smartphone card designed by my upline Catherine Harwood. Her card was done using Basic Gray cardstock and was a birthday card. I decided to turn it into a graduation card so made it in black and added the graduation sentiment from the stamp set Blue Ribbon. The other sentiments are from the stamp set Just Sayin' and all are cut out using the Word Bubble Framelits. The cap on the envelope is from a retired stamp set.

graduation

The stamps in Just Sayin' stamp set have the black outline around the sentiments. Because I wanted the Congrats Grad image to mirror the other word bubbles I added the black outline. It was easy to do. After cutting out the image with the matching framelit and before popping it out of the framelit, use a black marker to draw a line around the inside of the framelit.

So Long to Some Favorites

Black and Sand

I was inspired by a card I saw online and with a few changes came up with this. It uses several stamp sets that are retiring and have in fact already sold out. Maybe you have them and if not you can always use the idea and substitute other stamps. The oval background using En Francais is done by making a mask with an oval framelit. Cut out the middle of a piece of white or vanilla cardstock (it's a little thinner than colored cardstock and works better). Ink up the stamp, place the mask on top and then place your solid piece of cardstock on top and rub over the top of it. You only get the stamped image in the cutout area. The other images are from Papaya Collage. The black butterfly has a punched silver glimmer paper butterfly under it.

And her is the inside:

Blk & Sand inside

I don't often add an extra mat to the inside panel however after seeing that my friend Linda Sabourin does this so often and loving the look I decided to give it a try. It sure made the white panel look better when putting black between it and the Sahara Sand card.

Stamps: En Francais, So Sorry, Papaya Collage

Ink: Black, Sahara Sand

Paper: Black, White, Sahara Sand, Silver Glimmer

Misc: Oval Framelits, Large Butterfly Punch, Rhinestones, Ribbon

Backyard Basics

I'm so sorry that Backyard Basics stamps set and coordinating framelits are retiring and in fact they sold out almost immediately once the retirement list came out on Monday. In fact, many things are already sold out. If there is a special stamp or accessory set you want you need to order it right away before it's gone.

The idea for this card came from Ilina Crouse. I changed a few details and colors. This was my first time using the new Hexagon Hive Framelit from the Occasions catalog. It is not easy to get the cardstock out of the framelit because of the very narrow edges but if you a piece of wax paper between the cardstock and the framelit it will easily come out.

It may be hard to tell that I added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the card. The bird is put on with a dimensional. The other elements are put on with Snail tape runner.

This past Sunday my granddaughter, Sofia, read the Scripture in church. She also was in the University of Kentucky production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. And she is a dancer and recently won platinum awards in a dance competition. So very proud of her and all she does. I wish I had been there to see her performance and see her in church. The picture below was taken by my son who does sound at church. So what you see is his photo of the monitor where he is in the balcony.

New Catalog Sneak Peak

Last night I went to a New Catalog Premier Event at one of the movie theaters in Waterford Lake. The live event that was taking place in Los Angeles was being simulcast to 39 other cities via the movie theaters. This is the first time Stampin' Up has done something like this and we had a great time watching CEO Shelli Gardner and many of the other regular Stampin' Up employees talk about and demonstrate some of the new products coming up. There were traditional prize patrols throughout the evening. I didn't win one of those  sad  but at the end of the evening we all received one of the new stamp sets along with a copy of the new catalog.smiley While I'm not allowed to let people look at it yet I can show you the cover … and I can tell you that there are some great new stamp sets and accessories coming.

Me & new catty

I didn't get home until about 10:45 and since I drove I didn't have a chance to look at it until I got home.  I got comphy and sat down with the catalog and some sticky notes and this is what it looks like now. Hmm, what to order first?

My Paper Pumpkin Gift Bag

Are you a subscriber to My Paper Pumpkin? I just recently signed up and am so glad I did. I have been very happy with the kits I have received. Last month's kit came with 5 very heavy craft bags, ribbon, two stamps, an ink spot, mini clothespins, and sheets of die cut embellishments. I used some of the printed letters to spell out "hello" but there were plenty to spell out someone's name or other greeting. I made this bag and added some stamped tissue paper to go with it. The next person I need to give a gift to is going to get this fabulous bag. Once I've used all of the bags I still have the two stamps and the ink to use over and over.
