It's time for my annual CD Calendar Class and I have a few openings left. This is a 12 month calendar that fits in a CD jewel case which opens and becomes the stand. Here's a little sneak peak. January is one of a couple of months that have a choice of design. There are two classes. Friday, November 22 @ 1:00 and again on Saturday, November 23 @ 9:30.  Class fee is $15 for one calendar and $6 for each additional calendar.

A Different Fold

Wheat

This card has an interesting and different fold. The base of the card is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Score the short side at 2-3/4" and 7-1/2". Fold them in making sue that they meet. If you look closely at the top of the card you will see where the front flaps meet.  The stamped panel on the front left is 3" x 4-3/4". Attach it being sure you don't put adhesive on the right side (about 1") as this will hang over the edge. The acorn stamped piece is attached to the card using dimensionals being sure that they are only on the right side of the scalloped piece. It hangs off the edge and the stamped panel on the left tucks under it keeping the card closed.

I stamped on the polka dot Designer Series Paper with Crumb Cake ink. I like stamping on DSP when it is something that will show. I stamped the acorns in both Artichoke and Espresso ink. I cut out the Espresso acorn cap and attach it to the Artichoke acorn.  The cap is attached using a dimensional on the top acorn.

Stamps: Truly Grateful

Ink: Early Espresso, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, So Saffron Marker

Paper: Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, White

Misc: Dimensionals, Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Espresso Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Have a Blessed Sunday,

Monochromatic Quick & Easy

green polka dot floral

This is a card the my friend and downline, Betty had for us to do at one of our stamping get-togethers. Some friends and I get together occasionally to just stamp for fun. Each one of us brings a card idea and the supplies to make it. She made several using different colors. You are probably wondering about that scalloped oval on the bottom right. It was purposely left without a sentiment. The idea, especially if you make a few of these, is to stamp different sentiments, punch them out with the slightly smaller oval punch and keep them until you have occasion to need a card. Then just select the appropriate sentiment. This card is quite easy so it's a great one to do if you want to make several.

Stamps: Flower Shop

Ink: Gumball Green

Paper: Gumball Green, White, In Color DSP Paper Stack

Misc: Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Scallop Oval Punch, Pansy Punch

I had a great time stamping for fun this morning with friends. I will post some of those projects later this week.  And this afternoon I played Mahjong with other friends. It was a great day. I even won 5 games of Mahjong!

Several of my friends who live up north posted pictures today on Facebook of the snow they got and my mother, who is in KY, called me today to tell me they had snow last night. It's what I miss the most living in Florida. Of course I wouldn't want to have to drive in it or shovel it. That's one of the good things about living here.

Cutest Gum Ever!

My friend, Debbie, had some Christmas gum stocking stuffers she had made at a recent craft show and I thought they were so cute I came home and made some. I just love those little snowman faces.

gum

Stamps: Endless Wishes Photopolymer, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo

Paper: Island Indigo, White, Winter Frost DSP, Silver Glimmer

Misc: Rhinestones, Silver 1/8" Ribbon, Sticky Strip, Large Snowflake Punch(retired), Small Snowflake Punch (non-Stampin' Up!)

  • Cut DSP 3-1/2” x 6”
  • Score @ 2-1/2”, 2-3/4”, 5-1/4” and 5-1/2”
  • Use SNAIL to adhere the DSP to the gum package. Use Sticky Strip to adhere the 1/4” end that folds over the top.
  • Use Eclipse gum
  • Sentiment is stamped on White cardstock that is 2-3/4” x 1-1/2”
  • Silver Glimmer paper is 3-1/2" x 1/2"
  • Bic "Mark It" fine markers do a better job of marking the snowman faces than Sharpie markers which tend to be lighter in color.

Today my upline, Catherine Harwood, posted a link on her 321 Stamp Facebook page for a website called Design Seeds. There are beautiful color palettes which you could easily incorporate into your cards by using Stampin' Up! colors. This is one that I particularly liked so be on the lookout for a card using these colors in the future.

design seedsMy colors would be Blushing Bride, Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar, Smoky Slate, Old Olive, and Pistachio Pudding or Pear Pizzazz.

Simply Created Joy Banner

Joy Banner

I have had so much fun creating banners using the banner kits and the accessory kits from the Holiday catalog. With one of the Build a Banner Simply Created Kits you get the stencils and 18 pennants. That is enough for the Halloween Spooky banner, the Thankful banner and now this Christmas Joy banner (you could also do one that says Noel). I added a few extra snowflakes to my banner but most of this comes with the accessory kit. And of course you can create banners for any type occasion using the pennants, stencils, some stamps, ink, paper and accessories.

Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit    # 132697      $9.95

Festive Flurry Easel Card

This easel card  was designed by demonstrator Kelly Gettlefinger. There is a great video how-to on her blog which you can see here. I made a couple of small changes to mine. I used white cardstock on the stamped base and I off-set the two large snowflakes. I wanted more of the larger silver glimmer snowflake to show. This is the card closed ….

Lovely As a Tree Color Block

tree colorblock

It's hard to believe that Lovely As a Tree stamp set is still in the catalog. Since 2001. For the last few years I have expected Stampin' Up! to retire it and so far it's been safe. I use it a lot and it's probably the most purchased stamp set of my stampers.

This card was inspired by demonstrator Cindy McNeil. My only change was to emboss the cardstock background with the Woodgrain embossing folder. It's an easy card to do. The tree is sponged with ink using sponge daubers.

And the inside …

Fall in Florida

The fall color in the North is beautiful and one of the things I miss. However, we do have our own color changes right here in Florida. The Golden Rain Trees come alive with yellow and orange color this time of year.
