Cased Bird Card

I saw this card from demonstrator Julie Gearinger recently online and loved it so much I cased it (copy and share everything) and made one for myself and then did it in a class. The only change I made was in the sentiment.

Shooting Star Shaker

I saw a card that used the "swoosh" stamp from the stamp set Work of Art create a shooting star. I created this mini shaker version using the Star Framelits and the In Color Sequin Assortment. I cut out a small star opening in the white cardstock and then cut out the Coastal Cabana star using the two smallest size star framelits. Just put them both on a piece of cardstock , one inside the other, and run it through the Big Shot and you get the star with the center cut out. I then glued it on the white cardstock matching up the star openings. One the back side attach a piece of window sheet over the punched out star and then outline the edge of the star with dimensionals being sure to not leave any openings. Put a few sequins in the middle and then add another piece of cardstock over the dimensionals which will hold the sequins in place behind the clear center star. This whole piece of cardstock then needs to be attached to the Coastal Cabana mat with dimensionals.

Cards From Friends

Don't you love going to the mailbox and finding a card there? Me too. It's almost like opening up a present. I recently received several cards from some of my friends. I had been having some health issues and woke up one morning with double vision. After several visits to both my medical doctor and eye doctor I was told it was a benign condition that would probably take 3-4 months to resolve. I got a pair of glasses from the eye doctor that had a prism attached to one lens and it magically made the double vision disappear as long as I looked straight ahead but made everything blurry. The prism was like a vinyl cling. Imagine looking at the world through Saran Wrap. I quickly decided it was easiest to wear a patch. Imagine a black pirate patch. Anything I did up close was not double so I spent time stamping and reading and watching Netflix on my laptop. It was as close to "normal" as I could feel. Now imagine my surprise, along with the doctors surprise, when after two weeks the double vision disappeared and my eyesight was back to normal. During the two weeks though I had to undergo several tests and it was a little scary not knowing for sure what was going on. Along with so many well wishes via email and Facebook and phone calls I did receive some beautiful cards.

Janice's Card
This card was from fellow demonstrator Janice Estes. She used the stamp set Everything Eleanor. The swirl in the background is heat embossed with white embossing powder and has ink sponged over it. Such a pretty card that I used the design for one of my stamp classes.

Carol's CardMy friend, Carol Loehr, made this card using a retired Stampin' Up Die that she bought from one of my retirement sales. I think her card is prettier than any I ever made using the die.

Catherine's CardThis pretty card is from my friend and upline, Catherine Harwood. I should have taken a photo of it open. The bottom of the card flips upwards and open.

While this next card was not a get well card I wanted to share it too since it was a congratulations card from friends Cheryl and Mike White. Mike is also a fellow demonstrator and the first and only male demonstrator in my downline. They also gave me a journal to take on my Stampin' Up Getaway Incentive Trip to Washington DC and some special DC stickers to jazz it up.

New Stamp Set & New Weekly Deals

Yee-Haw! Dust off those boots, shine up your spurs, and figure out where you left your ten-gallon hat because with the 25-piece Yee-Haw photopolymer stamp set you can really let your cowboy (or girl) flag fly.  I love new stamps and this is one is just so stinkin' cute.

I snapped this picture below when I was at Convention. Look closely at the circle background images. They are done using the Dots  Decorative Mask (page 205 in the catalog). Using the fine point of a Stampin' Write Marker, draw around the inside of the dots on the mask. Then just fill in with lines in both directions. We did this in one of the classes I took while out there. A fun new technique and so easy to do.

Coloring Designer Series Paper

I have seen some cards on the internet by others with the feathers from this black and white Designer Series Paper colored with markers. Super cool idea so I decided to give it a try and we made this card in class this week. You can use any colors you chose and the paper pairs up very well with this bird and nest stamp from World of Dreams.

New Weekly Deals and a Card

I love the Weekly Deals that Stampin' Up has. Remember that they change every Tuesday and prices are good for one week while supplies last. These newest deals will be good through Monday, August 11th.  One of the Decorative Design embossing folders in this weeks deals was used in the card that follows. You can see and order these specials here.

One of my convention swaps inspired this card. I made a few changes to the design and this is what I created. The white embossed piece of cardstock is done using the Decorative Design Embossing Folder which is on sale this week. There is a coordinating Framelit however because I embossed my paper first it didn't line up with the Framelit so I had to hand cut the bottom scallop. Note to self: Next time, cut first, then emboss. The front flap of the card has the top 2" cut off and a half circle punched out. Then take that punched piece and attach to the inside white piece of cardstock above the punched out area. Love this effect.

Blue Butterfly

Stamps: Papillion Potpourri (butterfly), Pictogram Punches (flowers), Wetlands (sentiment)

Ink: Pacific Point

Paper: Pacific Point, White

Misc: Decorative Details Embossing Folder, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Elegant Butterfly Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Rhinestones,

Ribbon is Retired
