Lexington Trip

My daughter, Lynn Ann, and I went to Lexington last week to visit my mother and my son Jeff and his family. For this Florida gal the temps in the 30's and 40's were too cold and was even suppose to snow one day but didn't get quite cold enough. My mother is amazing at 94.

We got there on Saturday just in time to go watch the UK basketball game with Jeff and my grandson, Anderson, at a local restaurant which was right across the street from the Opera House where my granddaughter, Sofia, was performing that night. My daughter-in-law, Becky, and Sofia were already at the Opera House but came over for a quick hello. Unfortunately, the Wildcats lost the game. After that it was on to the dance performance.

Lexington in the Spring is one of my favorites.  Even though there was a cold spell that weekend Spring was in full bloom.  These Bradford pear trees were everywhere.

There was also forcythia and daffodils blooming but I never could get a picture of them. It was either too cold or too cloudy out. I love forcythia but of course it won't grow in Florida so when I found some artificial sprays on clearance this week I got them and created my own little bit of Spring inside my house with some live tulips and hyacinth plants.

Stock Up on Retiring In Color Products

It's not too soon to be thinking about the In Colors that will be retiring when the new catalog comes out June 1st. The retiring list will be announced in May however once that list is out one of the first things to run out is the reinkers for the ink pads along with cardstock and any other embellishments in these colors. Below are the colors that will retire. I am going to hate to say goodbye to Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss. I use these colors all the time. But saying goodbye means we get to say hello to five new colors in June. Wonder what they will be.

2014-2016-In-Colors-600x174

Stock up now while you can still get them and remember that you can earn FREE Sale-a-Bration product with a $50 order.

I will be placing an order the last week of March so let me know if there is anything you need.

Pleated Skirt Card

Pleated skirt cards have become popular recently and I have seen a few different versions with slightly different instructions for cutting the paper. One that I tried had a 12" x 12" sheet of Designer Series Paper cut to yeild enough pieces to do 4 cards. However it didn't have the number of pleats that I wanted. The second one I tried was much smaller and again didn't have the number of pleats I wanted. So I created my own measurements which I will share below. Using my measurements you will get 3 from a piece of 12" x 12" DSP with plenty of leftover scraps to embellish the inside of the card.

Thank You’s from Friends & New Weekly Deals

We all love getting cards and gifts and when they are handmade it makes it all the more special. I was surprised last night with a thank you gift from my friend and fellow demonstrator Judy Shapley. I just had to share the special bag and matching card she made. Isn't this beautiful and so coordinated too.

And then today I got this wonderful card in the mail from my friend Pat Cook.

Easter Lamb

It's hard to believe that Easter is just two weeks away. We have been making a few Easter cards in my classes and this cute little lamb is perfect for not only Easter but would also make adorable baby or childrens cards.  I did use the retired polka dot embossing folder for the background however the decorative dots embossing folder would work just as well. This is such a quick and easy card. I used markers to add a little color to the ears and give her some rosy cheeks. Because I wanted to be able to use the lamb image for cards other than Easter I cut the sentiment apart from the lamb. I do this from time to time when I know I won't always want a sentiment and image stamped together. Don't be afraid to do this.

Easter Lamb

Stamps:  Easter Lamb

Ink: Black, Mint Macaron Marker, Pink Pirouette Marker

Paper: Mint Macaron, Pink Pirouette, White

Misc: Dots Embossing Folder, Pearls, Circles Framelits, Dimensionals, Glue Dots Baker's Twine Combo Pack (The threads in the Mint Macaron and Black trim were seperated for the bow.)

My Big Fat Mess

I have a problem when it comes to putting my stamps away. I am usually either too tired or my back hurts after a class (those who know me know I have some back issues) so when I clean up the last thing to get done is put the stamps away. Because of this they tend to pile up. I tell myself I'll do better and then this happens.

Oodles of StampsI'd like to say they have all been put away but after spending part of the day stamping I'm afraid it will have to wait. I'll do it tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow.

Hugs,
