Happiness Is ….

I am in a special group and there was a challenge last week to clean up our stamping space and post the photos of before and after to the group. Now I can create a real mess when I’m stamping but what I realized from this group is that most people do. And not everyone cleans it up right away. That has been my problem partly because when I am being creative I don’t know when to stop and then I’m too tired or my back hurts or I have something else that has to be done. Any number of reasons for not cleaning up including it’s not fun to clean. So I thought I would share my before and after pictures with you.

This is the worst because when I don’t have time to clean and put away I shove things into the closet and then close the doors.

This photo was part of the cleaning out process which resulted in even more of a mess.

It was a huge task which took the better part of a day. Sorting through card stock and putting stamps back into their cases. Ugh! One thing that really helped was giving myself permission to throw away things I never use or small pieces of card stock.

Happiness is ….. a clean stamp space.

If you have a cluttered stamp space I challenge you to a clean-up. It feels great to have it organized and neat.

Hugs

My Top Holiday “Must-Haves”

Each new catalog I like to do my top 10 list. When it’s the annual catalog I do the top 10 stamp sets and then another list for accessories. Because the holiday catalog is so much smaller I decided to combine them but then I couldn’t limit it to 10 no matter how hard I tried. So here is my top baker’s dozen list.

Merry Christmas to All (p. 5)  This is a perfect word set for Christmas and the die cut words are beautiful. Such a pretty font.

Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder (p. 5)

Signs of Santa (p. 19)  When I first saw the catalog I thought this was cute but didn’t plan on ordering it. After seeing so many cute cards I did order it and it has become my favorite of all. Many of the framelits will cut out designs from the DSP too. I love that Stampin’ Up! is doing this with so many papers now. What is hard to see from the catalog is that the DSP has lots of white flocking on it. So darn cute!

Santa’s Workshop Memories & More (p. 21)  Memories & More packs aren’t just for scrap booking. They make quick and easy cards too. This is one of the best packs ever. For just $10 you get 50 cards in two sizes which includes sheets of stickers. Many of the cards are glittered. I will be doing a class using this pack along with the red coordinating envelopes. The class will be making 20 Christmas cards (you will have plenty of leftovers for other projects) and is $35.  More details to come on time and date.

Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper (p. 29)  Six of the sheets have beautiful copper foil accents on one side which coordinate beautifully with the glimmer paper below.

Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper (p. 29) I love that the new glimmer papers no longer flake off bits of glitter. The rich colors in this package coordinate with the Joyous Noel DSP

Take Your Pick (p. 30)  I highlighted this new tool in the previous post. It is amazing what all is included and what it can do and it’s only $10!

Timeless Tidings Project Kit (p.33)  Project kits are a quick and easy way to make a lot of cards. This designs in the set are beautiful. It coordinates with the Timeless Tidings stamp.

Buffalo Check Background Stamp (p. 38)  Doesn’t look like much here but it does make great backgrounds. I just haven’t had a chance yet to play with it.

Country Home Stamp Set (p. 43)  Another set I didn’t think I wanted until I started seeing card samples. Now I am in love with it.

Tin Tile Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder (p. 43)  May be my favorite embossing folder of all time. Use our new Galvanized paper with it and it truly does look like an old tin tile ceiling.

Country Lane Designer Series Paper (p. 43)  What can I say, it’s the perfect paper to use with the Country Home stamp set.

Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon (p. 49)  I am a glitter girl. Love anything that sparkles and shines so this ribbon was a must.

What are some of your favorites?

I’m getting ready to go stamp and craft for four days with friends. It will give me the chance to start using some of the new holiday products without any distractions. Well, maybe a game or two of mahjong will be thrown in. We truly work from early morning until late at night crafting with mahjong breaks.

Take Your Pick

We all know that any task is easier when you have the right tool. Try hammering in a nail without a hammer. I used the bottom of a kitchen pot one time! Cutting tree limbs. Used an electric knife once! Neither worked very well and you can imagine what it did to the pot and knife.

Stampin’ Up! has a new tool and if you are a stamper or paper crafter then this is the tool for you. It is almost a hidden gem in the new Holiday catalog. (page 30) It is one of the best products I have used and I don’t want you to miss out on all it can do.

  • Putty end for picking up those small embellishments such as sequins or papers
  • Tiny spatula tip for scooping things like rhinestones off the paper
  • Paper piercing tip
  • Stylus tip for scoring

But wait! It gets better. This amazing, handy-dandy tool is just $10. That’s right, just $10! Check out the video to see it in action.

As an added bonus, order the tool in September and your name will go into a drawing for a free putty refill.

I’m off to the gym and water aerobics. Wishing you have a great day.

Illuminated Christmas – Holiday Sneak Peak

The Global Design Challenge this week is a color challenge using Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, and Flirty Flamingo together.

                                                           Color challenge! #GDP153

I have to say I don’t think I ever would have put these colors together in a card but I like the outcome. Using these colors on a Christmas card is a bit non-traditional but then why be predictable! This is one of the Christmas stamp sets in the new Holiday Catalog. If you would like to have a catalog let me know. It goes live September 5th and is filled with some pretty wonderful stamps and products including this stamp set called Illuminated Christmas.

I used Stampin’ Blends to color the stamped images, adding a little Wink of Stella on the star. The metallic pearls come in a package of silver and gold however I needed pearls to coordinate with the copper foil paper and the designer series paper so I colored them with the bronze Stampin’ Blends.

Rooted in Nature Goes Pink

It’s hard to say what Stampin’ Up! product I love the most but right up at the top of the list has to be the Designer Series Paper (DSP). First of all it’s always so beautiful. The photos in the catalog hardly do it justice. The inspiration for a card usually starts with a piece of DSP and it’s easy to pick out the colors for a card. Just use the colors in the paper. I often find combinations that might not have occurred to me. Like this one below. It’s certainly not traditional colors when you think of stamping leaves but I love how it turned out.

Miraculously it missed hitting my daughter’s car which was parked right next to the truck. The police called someone with the city who came and cut and moved what was blocking the street. Then it was up to my daughter and son-in-law to call a tree service to remove the rest of the tree. It actually took them 2 days to get it done as they were being so very careful not to cause more damage to the truck.  The tree was completely cut down. Several weeks and several thousand dollars later he has his truck back from the body shop. This could have been so much worse.

Save the Date and a Cutting Blade Tip

No I’m not getting married! Ha! But I wanted to let you know that my good friend and fellow demonstrator, Sandy Mitchell, and I are planning our first full day retreat.

Stamp & Scrap Creative Escape will be Saturday, October 20th from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. We are working on the final details of our registration form so be on the lookout for it to come very soon.

Today’s been quite busy with registration this morning for OnStage in Orlando in November. This is the Stampin’ Up! event for demonstrators and because this is SU’s 30th year it was filling up quickly. I’m sure they will sell out all of the more than 7000 available spots so demos were all anxiously awaiting the opening of registration to be sure they would get a spot. I am so excited to go to this. Stampin’ UP! puts on amazing events. And then after I got registered I was out and about scouting things for our upcoming Stamp & Scrap Creative Escape.

Here’s a little video tip on getting more use of your Stampin’ Trimmer blades. When they begin to leave frayed edges you can get clean cuts by following my tip.

Holiday Catalogs will be available soon. I have mine already and just did a huge preorder because that’s what we demonstrators get to do. Order early. You’re gonna’ fall in love with it. So many great new products.

That’s all for today folks. Thanks for stopping by
