December 2022 CD Calendar

This year is almost over with only a few days to get the December CD Calendar posted. It’s been a pretty busy month getting ready for Christmas.

We don’t do a lot of gifts in my family anymore. Maybe a couple but we do love to play games and those  had some treats and gifts associated with them. My son and daughter and their families were here and everyone contributed to our dinner. After the dinner the games began.

Family Christmas

We had our family get together on Friday due to Jason and his family going to Allison’s sisters for Christmas.

The first game we called the Solo cup game. I had seen a couple of versions of this on Facebook and my daughter and I created our own version. We had 105 cups on the table and each one covered a prize. Candy, small gifts, money, gift cards, etc. And 8 cups had a Pick a Present slip which let the person getting it pick one of the wrapped presents.

The shenanigans started when we handed out bags to collect the loot. Grandson Alex, son-in-law Don, grandson Owen and son Jason.

One of the Pick a Present gifts my daughter Lynn Ann won.

My son Jason and his fiancé Allison

My grandson Owen wound up with most of the money. He was super excited.

My oldest son lives in KY so he wasn’t with us this year. But we enjoyed a bottle of the wine he makes.

For our second game everyone brought a wrapped gift. Each person started out with a gift and we each rolled a dice and had to follow the written instructions which included things like unwrap your gift, pass gifts to the left, trade your gift, etc. This was a frame filled with lottery scratch off tickets. Grandson Alex was happy when he opened this but he didn’t keep it long.

After the fun and games we had lots of yummy desserts from which to choose.

Christmas Eve Service

Our Christmas Eve service at the church I attend was just beautiful. Lots of treasured Christmas carols were sung, a great message by the pastor and ending with the lighting of candles and singing Silent Night. Here I am with friends Jan and Donna who both happen to be Stampin’ Up demonstrators in my downline. You can tell that we got cold weather by the fact that we all have scarfs on. It actually got down in the 30’s which is pretty cold for this FL gal.

A Few Random Photos

I had promised to make cupcakes for the physical therapy team where I had been going so I took this box of treats to them the week of Christmas. I have just started dabbling in decorating cupcakes.

My daughter Lynn Ann and I have season tickets to Broadway in Orlando and this is one of the beautiful trees in the lobby connected to the garage we use to park the car. It was funny that we both wound up wearing gray dresses. We certainly didn’t plan on that.

This is one of several gorgeous trees in the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The play we saw was Hades Town. It was very good.

This photo was taken the day after our family Christmas. I have loved being able to have so many fires.

Oct & Nov CD Calendars

It’s so true, what they say about time going so quickly as you get older. In a few blinks of my eyes I totally missed posting anything in October. Ugh!

I actually have 3 classes coming up to do the calendar for next year. I give them to all of my family and several of my friends every year – 20 total. And it has become on of the best attended classes I do.

September CD Calendar & New Specials

I’m going to start this post with the CD Calendar but be sure to read all the way to see what’s new and what’s on sale. Lot’s going on.

Isn’t this the cutest little squirrel? He looks a bit mischievous doesn’t he? It’s from the stamp set Nuts About Squirrels.  As you can see below this is 2-step stamping. The outline stamp is paired with the stamp for the “fill-in”. I have even seen some cute cards using this set and turning the squirrels into mice. Super cute and the versatility of the set makes it a great buy for only $17.

I use to hate squirrels because there are so many and they were constantly getting into my bird feeders. But I have come to change my opinion especially after having a blonde squirrel in my yard daily. And for the most part I have kept the squirrels away from my bird feeder. All except “Rusty” which my friends named. He learned to get on the roof and jump to the top of the feeder and then hang on to get to the seed. At first I tried to scare him away but then decided if he was that smart and that hungry to leave him alone. No other squirrel has been smart enough to figure out his method of getting to the feeder.

Rusty use to be more red but I think the Florida sun has lightened him up.

It’s a Hippo, It’s a Cow

When I first saw the Sale-a-Bration products I didn’t much care for the Hippos but they quickly became a favorite. And then when I saw other demonstrators turning them into cows I was hooked.

For this card I stamped one of the hippps on white card stock and colored with Blends. To create the bubbles on the black cardstock I traced different sized circular items with a white gel pen. I also drew in some lines inside the circles. Then using blue and pink Blends I colored over just portions of the white lines. This gives the appearance of the iridescent colors seen in bubbles. I added some Opal Round embellishments which look like bubbles. The green cardstock is the new In Color Parakeet Party. The sentiment is from the stamp set Charming Sentiments which is an all occasion assortment and has coordinating dies that cut right around the words. The dies include some extra fun cut outs.

Again I used Parakeet Party for this card with the DSP simulating grass. It’s so easy to turn those hippos into cows. I used a black Blends marker to color in the spots and Petal Pink Blends for the faces and stomachs.

The extra dies for the goggles, scuba gear, sunglasses and umbrella give the hippos so much personality.

There are just a few weeks left of Sale-a-Bration. If you love the hippos too you can get it free with a qualifying order.

True, right! The battery packages are the worst to try to get open.

August CD Calendar

Just a quick post to share this months CD calendar page. I used the retired set Birds and Branches.  I have a bird feeder in my backyard which is easy to see from my living room and sun room. I love watching the many birds who come numerous times a day. There haven’t been as many lately. I don’t know if they have flown off to other parts of the country or not. It’s been so hot in Florida I would escape to a cooler climate too. And that is what I just did. I am Kentucky visiting my son and family. I left 90 degree weather to the 70’s. Their weather had been in the 90’s also and just this week dropped. Perfect.

There are additional items added for Sale-a-Bration products which you can select FREE with a qualifying order of $50 or more. You can see them in my online store here

Happiness Abounds with Vellum Layering Designs

I have to say that Happiness Abounds has become one of my favorite sets in the annual catalog. I have made so many cards just using the cut out flowers from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper. They are gorgeous and make the prettiest cards. But I finally decided I needed to make a card and actually use the flower stamps in the set. I hadn’t used the new Vellum Layering Designs yet so decided to pair it with the flowers. There are 3 different designs printed on vellum, 4 sheets of each design. I especially love the script.

I stamped the flowers and leaves and colored with Blends. The word “friend” was fussy cut and popped up with a mini dimensional.

April – July CD Calendars

When you find yourself out of the habit of doing something it’s harder to get back into doing it. Things like working out or going to church or even stamping. I have to admit that I kind of lost my mojo for stamping for awhile and along with that keeping up my blog. But with the new catalogs out and seeing so many wonderful cards I am finding joy in my craft room again. So this first post in awhile will be catching up the CD Calendar pages beginning with April.

This was an easy page to make using some Designer Series Paper with daisies and adding a punched out daisy using the Medium Daisy Punch and the retired Leaf Punch.

For the May calendar page I used the Painted Poppies stamp set since American Poppy Day is in May. It is a day to honor and remember those who served and died for our country in all wars.

Seascape stamp set and dies were used to make this page. I was sad to see these retire.

July always brings thoughts of fireworks and our American flag and it’s not always easy to find something new. It is also a time for celebrations and picnics and that calls for ice cream! I used Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and coordinating punch which is now retired.

March CD Calendar

Just a quick post today to share the CD calendar for this month. The idea for the cute gnome came from another demonstrator but I am not sure who it was. The beard is a leaf die and the hat is the Christmas tree punch. The feet are from a leaf punch. March is always one of the most difficult months to come up with an idea so this was perfect.

I’ll be back soon with more cards.

Social media has been filling up with support for Ukraine by posting pictures of their flag and the national flower, the sunflower. This one is especially beautiful. If I had the sunflower stamp set I would make a sunflower card. Let’s pray this war ends quickly.

My youngest son had a birthday a few weeks ago. A BIG birthday! He turned 50. How does that happen so quickly? There was a party planned and my oldest son who lives in KY came as a surprise. It was great fun and of course I loved having all three of my kids together.

My son-in-law, Don, me, Jason, Jeff, Lynn Ann and my grandson, Alex

Have a Blessed weekend.
