Carol’s Cards
My friend, Carol Loehr, made these adorable cards for her grandchildren's birthdays.
This one was for her granddaughter, Coralynn who just turned two years old. She had been working on the card and showed it to some of her friends before it was finished and one of them said she needed to put on a real photo of her dog, Yoshi, who Coralynn loves. So the second dog from the front is a cut out photo of Yoshi.
A very special card for a very special little girl.
Carol's grandson, Christopher, just had a birthday too and this is the card she made for him.

More Convention Highlights
I swapped about 150 cards this year so have come home with some pretty awesome ideas. One of the organized swaps I participated in was black and white with a pop of color. I've always liked black and white cards so this was a "have to" swap for me. I think the best cards came from this swap. I signed up for two groups in this swap so created two different cards.
For this card I embossed the black piece of cardstock with the new Fluttering embossing folder. The patterened DSP is from Everyday Chic and cut into different lengths and widths. I stamped Just for You from the You're So Sweet stamp set and the butterfly is stamped from Watercolor Wings and cut out with framelits. It's a quick and easy card.
My second card also used Everyday Chic DSP. Notice how I ofset that piece and the stamped white piece instead of using the DSP as a mat behind the stamped piece? The sun and butterfly are from Kinda Eclectic stamp set and the tree, swing, and grass are from Sheltering Tree stamp set. Another quick and easy card.
My friend Barbara Lash from Massachusetts made this adorable little tea light using the Circle of Spring stamp set.

And here we are with Rich Jutkins, the President and COO of Stampin' Up! Every person from the home office is friendly and easily accessible for a photo or a chat.
There were 11 of us from Brevard County, all part of Catherine's downlone. With almost 3000 people there it's not easy to keep up with each other so Catherine brought this duck riding on a shuttle to hold up in the air. It was so appropriate as her blog and team is called 321 Stamp: Launching Creativity. And of course we do live right in the Space Center's back yard.

When we check in and get our convention bag we also get a colored wristband which is used for the prize patrols. At different times they will announce a color and those people with that band win something. As time went on almost everyone in our group of 11 had won except me. And then they called it, Wisteria Wonder! I got this great new stamp set. This is the first event where everyone actually won something from the prize patrols. There were also a couple of all-attendee give aways. A new black ink pad and a package of holiday DSP.

I always make a special gift for any of my downline who go to a Stampin' Up event and for my upline. For this I used the Sketched Dots Tag a Bag GIft Bags and stamped the fern from Butterfly Basics directly on the bag. You have to heat set it to get it to dry. The butterfly is from Watercolor Wings and the "for you" is from the Mini Treat Bag thinlit set. I slipped a piece of Soft Sky cardstock inside the bag just to give some color and attached a Starbucks giftcard to the back. With activities going day and night a little caffeine hits the spot.
These meters were all over and I thought what a great idea. All money goes towards the homeless.

Convention Roaring 20’s Party
Day 2 of Convention ended with Awards Night followed by a 20's themed party. I'm always amazed to see the amount of sales and number of recruits some demonstrators have in one year's time. The 20's party was great fun. Not everyone dresses in appropriate attire and it's certainly not a requirment. I had not intended to but just a few days before going my friend and I were shopping and found this on a clearance rack. With some added pearls it was the Cat's Meow!

Convention – Day 2
Today started with seeing the street outside out hotel window lined with amazing floats for the Pioneer Days celebration going on here. I took this photo from my 8th floor window. There is suppose to be fireworks tonight but I don't think they are anywhere close to where we are staying.
Our day was filled with classes, some stamping, and looking at new products. During any Stampin' Up! event there are occasional Prize Patrols and that means chances to win something free. Both Mike and Cheryl White in my downline have won.
Cheryl got a stamp set and a punch. How nice was that.

One of our afternoon classes focused on some of the Christmas products and we made a Christmas tag which I will be redoing into a Christmas card idea. The decorations in the hallways certainly put us in the holiday spirit.
Aren't the deer just the cutest. You'll be able to see them again in the Hoiday Catalog which you will be able to get mid to late August.

Our scheduled classes ended at 6:00 and since our hotel is right next door to a huge mall we walked over to find dinner. I was ready for something good and healthy and I was not disappointed in Kneaders. I had a great salad with turkey, cranberries, and sunflower seeds and then just had to have a cupcake since I had been hearing how good they are (and I love cupcakes!)

Just as I am finishing up this post we heard what sounded like fireworks so checked and sure enough we could see some of them off in the distance. Perfect ending to this day.

Convention -The End of Day 1
Each Stampin' Up event comes with a bag. This is the bag we received at check-in this morning. It is a super cute flannel bag and it came with a new stamp set inside along with some other goodies.
Catherine Harwood made each of us in her downline this bag charm. Every person's charm had their initial on it and it also came with some of the new Stampin' Up pearls and nice note from her. Thanks Catherine. You are the best upline!
I recently ordered the Origami Owl lanyard from my friend Debi Stonewall. They now have plates that can be inscribed and so I have the actual name that convention is called, Inspire, Create, Share and I used some of Stampin' Up mini glue dots to attach the S and U rhinestone letters. If you are interested in Origami Owl let me know and I can have Debi contact you.

The Headless Swapper
Last night I had an organized swap that took place in the hotel. It was a swap in your jammies. I asked my friend and upline, Catherine, to take a picture of me in my zebra pj's with some of the swaps I received. The first picture was awful and didn't get the pants in it so I told her to get another one with the pants saying I didn't care if my head was in it or not. Just get the cute pants. So this is what she did:
This might be the best photo of me all week! Just sayin'.
We had a great laugh out of the headless photo and then she did another.

I wish I could credit this card but there was not any information on who did it. Such a cute use of the Hardwood stamp for the table and part of a doily for the table cloth. This is a single stamp and only $13.00. I don't have it yet but it's on my list. wouldn't this be a perfect card to give to a sick friend with a pot of homemade soup. Images © Stampin' Up!

Tonight's the Awards Night (no, I'm not getting any this year but it's fun to watch those who do) followed by a party with a 20's theme. It will be a late night so I'll post those photos tomorrow.
Oh and one more thing … we got the new Holiday catalog today. I can't post a picture of it yet per Stampin' Up policy but let me just say it is jam packed with some awesome new stamp sets and products. There are a lot of kits, new framelits, new punches. I'm going to be in trouble. My list just keeps growing.

SLC First Night
Convention doesn't officially begin until tomorrow but because we have a full day of flying to get here we came a day early. It was a very long day beginning with leaving home at 7 AM to go to the airport. With a 3 hour layover in Denver we didn't get to Salt Lake City until after 4:00 (which was 6:00 FL time). Just enough time to regroup and go to dinner. We traditionally eat our first night at the Garden Cafe on the 10th floor of the Jospeh Smith Building in Temple Square. There is a glass retractable roof which isn't always open but tonight it was and the weather was just perfect. The photo collage below shows the mountains from inside the shuttle coming from the airport and the other photos are from the Garden Cafe. I had a yummy raspberry salad with chicken. The sun was starting to set as we were leaving so snapped the photo of the Temple from the 10th floor.
I had a swap tonight in the hotel in our pj's that didn't start until 9:30 and it is now 10:45 PM (which to me is almost 1 AM since I started this day on Eastern Time). I am one tired gal and going to bed.

Up, up, and Away
Leaving today for the annual Stampin' Up convention in Salt Lake City. It's always such fun, connecting friends from all over who I have met over the many years I have been a demonstrator. There is always so much to do, classes, parties, demonstrations, and so much more. And of course swapping, trading cards or card fronts (just to save on paper). I have a total of 150 swaps so will be coming home with 150 different cards and ideas. This is just one of them I did last minute using leftover cut cardstock from a class last week.
It's a little blurry but in a rush this morning to catch that plane so am just going with it. I used the new Ronald McDonald House Charities stampset, Sprinkles of life for the cupcake and the paper from the Cherry on Top paper stack. It was fun to make and I will come back with some instructions next week for you.

Awesomely Artistic Dragonfly
So here's the swap I did for convention using the little dragonfly.
I used the stamp set Awesomely Artistic.
To create this card cut a piece of white cardstock 2" wide and punch the end with the new Banner Triple Punch. Then lay it on top of the white panel and stamp over the two pieces. You can use repostionable tape to hold it in place if needed but I found it quite easy to just stamp while holding down one side of it. Once you have the stamping done attach the banner piece to a mat and attach to your card base. The stamped images line up. I put it on an Early Espresso card base which is a little hard to see since I took the photo on my wood table. I added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the dragonfly. I'm a glitter girl. Love it on just about everything. I have a friend who cleans my house for me and she just told me the other day she loves cleaning here because she always finds glitter.
