Feb. & March CD Calendar Sheets

I forgot to post the CD calendar sheet for last month – it went by so quickly even with that extra day. So I'll post it today along with the one for March. If I was on the ball I would get them posted on the first day of each month but this being retired just keeps me soooo busy and I get behind.  wink

CDMarchMarch is one of the hardest months to come up with a design for and I saw a card, probably on Pinterest, that someone had done with the shamrocks on a tree. I guess this is a lucky tree.

It's always fun to turn over the sheet for the next month because by the time the new month rolls around I have forgotten what the sheet looks like. I have a friend who I give a calendar to every year and she never looks at all the sheets when she gets it. She wants that surprise on the 1st of every month.

I'm off for a crafting weekend with friends. We go twice a year and simply craft, each doing their own thing. I have stamping and cross stitch and reading and even taxes packed to work on. It will be fun hanging out with girlfriends and getting things finished. We don't go anywhere or do anything else. Well almost nothing else. There will be some mahjong played when we need a break from our crafting.

Have a great weekend. The weather should be perfect.

I like to wait awhile before putting my Paper Pumpkin kit together. There are always alternate ideas available online so even if you don't quite like a particular project there are so many different ways to use the kit contents. Pinterest is a good source of ideas as well as Facebook's "Paper Pumpkin Fan Club".

This was January's kit:

heartsCute hearts to be made into a banner or the cookie treat bags. I saw several ideas online where the hearts were used to make cards. My friend Sandra Bruce used the kit along with a few additional items to create these adorable favors for her son's wedding rehearsal dinner.

Flowering Fields

Here is another card made using some of the FREE Sale-a-Bration products.

Flowering FieldsI used watercolor paper and an Aqua Painter to color the flowers after stamping the images with Archival Black Ink. After coloring the flowers I cleaned the brush tip of the Aqua Painter and then used just water to "bleed" the ink around the images. The flower panels are attached to a piece of FREE Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper. An easy way to line them up is to place your vellum on a a sheet of grid paper. You can see the lines of the grid paper through the vellum making it easy to perfectly line up the top and bottom edges of the flower panels. To attach the vellum piece to the card base use SNAIL under the areas where the panels are so that it doesn't show through on the front.

Sale-a-Bration continues through March. Get your FREE products with any order of $50 or more. Would you like to come to one of my stamping events? Let me know. I would love to have you join us.

Just For You

One of the FREE Sale-a-bration products you can get with any $50 order is the stamp set Botanicals For You. These cards were stamped using this set. I did a feminine and a masculine version and offered my stampers their choice. The card with the flowers used just the Botanicals For You stamp set. I used one of the splotch stamps from Georgeous Grunge for the masculine version which I saw on online.

Newest Weekly Deals

Here are the newest Weekly Deals available through next Monday, January 25th.

WD19

I love the little Party Punc Pack. It coordinates with the Party Wishes stamp set. Of course, they can be used alone and punch out such cute little shapes. While this is a great sale price I just want to caution you that if you wanted the coordinating stamp set too the discounted bundle price is just a little better than purchasing this sale punch pack and the stamp set separately.

party wishes stampsParty WIshes: $27.00 wood mount, $19.00 clear mount

Bundle, Stamp Set and Party Punch Pack: $37.23 wood mount, $30.50 clear mount

Balloon Celebration

Balloon Celebration
People send more birthday cards than for any other reason and this card just says it's time to celebrate!  And the stamp set is called Birthday Celebration. I love that there is a new balloon punch that coordinates with the two different sizes of balloons. I do like fussy cutting images but when you are doing a lot of cards having a punch makes it so much easier and faster too. I played around for awhile with this set and discovered that I liked the balloons a lighter, softer shade of ink so I inked up the stamp and stamped off lightly on scrap before stamping on my cardstock. See the photo below that shows the comparison of straight ink and stamped off ink. I used the new Wink of Stella glimmer brush on the balloons but it's hard to see in the photo. Be sure to watch the video at the end of this post to learn about this great new glimmer tool.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Each new catalog I like to post a list of my favorite things. I usually limit the list to 10 things so I've cheated just a little bit by using the bundles of my favorite stamp sets and counting the bundle as a favorite.  There are so many wonderful new stamps and products so once again, I have purchased a wee bit more than I told myself I would get. It's easy to see that it's one of the reasons I am a Stampin' Up demonstrator. The discounts help with my wanting it all.

Here is a card from this weeks classes from the Botanical Gardens Suite. Botannical Blooms stamp set was the number 1 priority on my wish list. It's so tropical and so very different from any other leaf stamp sets I have. Some of the sheets of paper in the DSP package are designed to add some stamping accents. How cool is that!  And don't you just love the leaf cutouts on the left edge of the card? Easy peasy with the matching framelit dies. The flower framelit does a double cut so that the petals on the inside of the flower stand out. My card had been in a cello envelope for class purposes and I forgot to pop them out for this photo but you can see where they are cut. There is even a framelit to make that amazing flower center.
