Let’s Go Fly a Kite

two kites

When I made this card I immediately though of the song "Let's Go Fly a Kite" from Mary Poppins. I actually had never seen the movie and then last year went to see the play. My son had given my daughter and I tickets for Christmas and wrapped up an umbrella and a bag of sugar with a large cooking spoon as gifts, telling us we had to guess what his real present was. We couldn't figure it out when we opened the umbrellas but as soon as I saw the sugar and spoon I knew. Even though I had never seen the show I sure knew the song "A Spoonful of Sugar …"

The stamp set Swirly Bird has become such a favorite of mine and when I first saw it I didn't even like it. I can't imagine that now. I am in love with it and have seen so many different card ideas online. The kite is done with two different stamps and because it is photopolymer it is so easy to line up and stamp the images. Even though there is a stamp for the kite string I did use a black fine point marker to make mine because I needed it to be longer than the stamp.

I am saddened by the tragedy that took place in Orlando a few days ago. And sickened that someone can get access so easily to an assult weapon and so quickly take the lives of 49 people and injur as many more. Orlando is basically in my backyard, just 30 miles away. I go to Orlando often. To shop, to doctors, to eat, for entertainment.  This shouldn't happen. We shouldn't have to worry about these kind of things happening. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who died and to those who survived, to the health care workers, and the law enforcement agencies.
