Butterfly Z-fold

This was my first attempt at doing a Z-fold card which we made in last weeks stamp classes.  It’s a little overwhelming with all of those butterflies so to make it easier for the class I made a template with a row of each large butterfly punched from Designer Series Paper, a row of the stamped and punched butterflies, and a row of the small butterflies.  I also labeled each of the acrylic blocks with a butterfly that was to be stamped indicating what color ink, what color paper and how many since some of them were repeated.  The paper used for the card is Natural Composition Specialty which has a glossy, raised printed pattern on one side and that determines the way the card folds and opens. When you open the card the backside of the middle section is seen so we put butterflies on the back of the middle section matching up the wings with those on the front. Start with a piece of 12″ x 12″ cardstock, then cut it at a diagonal from 5″ tapering down to 2″.  You can get three cards from one 12″ x 12″ paper.

The Run for the Roses – 139th Kentucky Derby

Today was the Kentucky Derby. I’m a big fan although I have never actually been to the Derby.  Too many people. So I watch from home and make my picks as to who I think will win even though I don’t bet any money. It’s a good thing because today I would have lost my money. It’s fun to see the fabulous hats and hear the stories about the horses, owners, jockeys, etc.

Hugs,
